Don Quixote
Is a really Big Book
On Sat 11 Jul 2026 Tetbury Goods Shed welcome
in his new one-man show, Dik Downey (Green Ginger, Pickled Image, Opposable Thumb) weaves together the crazed delusions of Don Quixote with his own struggle against reality. As Quixote chases his impossible dreams of glory, Dik faces his own dwindling relevance and his mortality.
This international co-production from the company that made Coulrophobia, a “truly fabulous showcase of clowning and puppetry skills” (Total Theatre), blends laugh-out-loud moments with mad reflections on the joys and indignities of growing old and fighting against the inevitable.

K B Hancock
England's Lost Impressionist
At the Goods Shed
This amazing free exhibition will start on Wednesday, the 24th of June and will run till Sunday, the 2nd of August
Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am-4pm. (Sometimes the main hall may be closed for other events. Please check before travelling especially)
K B Hancock was a professional painter who sold his paintings worldwide direct to his clients, never exhibiting through galleries.
His father, recognising his talent, sent him to Paris to study art at an early age and it was there that he developed his love of French culture and the beautiful countryside.
He painted many regions of France during his life, specialising towards the end of his life in the colours and light of Provence and the Cote d’Azur. In 1949 KB moved to St Ives, home to a thriving community of artists.
“I was mixing with people like Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Leonard Fuller and Sven Berlin. I learnt much from them and used that knowledge to develop my own style,” he wrote later.
His greatest accolade was being made the first British painter since Henry Moore to be made a member of the prestigious Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and exhibited annually with them in Paris from 2002.
This colourful character was well known in Tetbury where he lived from 1993 to his death in 2014. He said of his work:
“I have never sold for investment. There are three things about buying a painting. You love it, you can afford it and the quality you will know for yourself. Judge the work not the man. Only time will tell if I am any good.’
This exhibition shows a wide range of his work from his studio from the 1970s to 2014, from tranquil countryside scenes, through impressionism, semi abstract and marine paintings.

The next Shed Talk will be Beekeeping, with Painswick Rococo Garden’s beekeeper, David Privett, on Wed 20 May.
Painswick Rococo Garden is a Georgian horticultural marvel which nestles in a hidden valley and boasts fantastic vistas, serpentine paths and rolling countryside, studded with charming follies, like its striking Exedra and Red House. The garden also boasts a kitchen garden and orchard. Produce from this is made into jams and chutneys, pickles, beer, cider, perry and wine. Of course, bees play a vital role in this chain from garden to your table.
David Privett installed his hives on the gardens’ Bothy Bank in late 2025. His talk will lift the lid on hive life, explain the queen’s role, worker bees’ duties, drones’ purpose and the life cycle of a bee.
He will cover seasonal influences, UK flora, and how bees interact with their environment, as well as how you can adapt your own garden to nurture these wonderful creatures.
David’s experience with bees began in 2009 — initially having just a couple of hives in his father in law’s back garden. He went on to install ten hives in the grounds of the Hilton Doubletree in Cheltenham, where he sells honey at the reception desk and in the leisure spa club.
Rococo honey will be on sale at the talk, as well as other honey-related produce.

The Ben Holder Quartet
On Sat 23 May Tetbury Good shed are delighted to present The Ben Holder Quartet – Swing on Steroids. Led by the fiery enthusiasm of Ben Holder, The Ben Holder Quartet features four of the U.K jazz scene’s absolute finest players.
This new show and accompanying album brims with showmanship and flair and is sure to delight any audience.
Join them for an exciting musical journey through the most foot-tapping jazz and swing, with music from Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin, The Beatles and many more.
Ben Holder is one of the most acclaimed and exciting jazz violinists in the UK. His classical studies began at the age of six, complemented by training at the Birmingham Conservatoire. An introduction to jazz came in his early teens: classic masters such as Benny Goodman, Oscar Peterson and Stephane Grappelli, leading Ben to truly find his place as a musician.
Ben’s accolades and performances bear testimony to these abilities. Often playing across the UK, Europe and further afield, he is the first-call jazz violinist for many of the country’s top venues, line-ups and studios.
Having kick-started his most recent tour with three sold out shows in the Hamburg Philharmonic Hall, alongside full-house theatres in France, an evening with this incredible musician and raconteur is something not to be missed.
